Similar
to subdivision surfaces CPS is capable of creating a hires
object from a lores mesh. Modification of the base geometry
is transferred to the hires mesh interactively. Based
on this functionality later versions included functions
to mirror and stitch the resulting proxy mesh automatically
to ease handling of symmetrical models. For realtime models
one can do without subdivision functionality and use i.e.
only mirroring and triangulation of the proxy object.
CPS'
user interface was designed for both professionals and
newcomer to access polygon modeling functions easily and
quickly. In the CPS Control window several polyong modeling,
display and selection functions were put together in a
compact form among other things. Further shortcuts for
functions partly hidden or only accessible using MEL commands
are available via right click menus. The CPS Toolbox is
a floating shelf window the user can customize with frequently
used functions.
CPS
soon found great acceptance in Maya's community and is
a essential tool for many Maya user worldwide. Among other
things CPS has been used in several film productions for
character and prop modeling.
